â„šī¸ What is Percentage Calculator?

A percentage calculator solves three common percentage problems: finding a percentage of a number (e.g., 20% of 150), finding what percentage one number is of another (e.g., 30 is what % of 120?), and calculating the percentage change between two values. It is one of the most universally useful math tools in everyday life.

📐 Formula

P% of N = (P / 100) × N | % Change = ((New − Old) / |Old|) × 100
P— The percentage value
N— The base number
New— The new value (for % change)
Old— The original value (for % change)

✏ī¸ Worked Example

Percentage: 15%
Number: 200
  1. 115% of 200 = (15 / 100) × 200
  2. 2= 0.15 × 200
  3. 3= 30
✅ Result: 15% of 200 = 30

💡 How to Interpret Results

  • ▸A percentage change above 0 is an increase; below 0 is a decrease.
  • ▸100% of anything = the thing itself. 200% of X = 2 times X. 50% of X = half of X.
  • ▸When comparing two percentages, use percentage points (not %) — e.g., going from 10% to 15% is a 5 percentage point increase, but a 50% relative increase.
  • ▸To add a percentage to a value: multiply by (1 + P/100). E.g., 20% increase on ₹500 = 500 × 1.20 = ₹600.
  • ▸To remove a percentage: multiply by (1 − P/100). E.g., 30% off ₹1000 = 1000 × 0.70 = ₹700.
