ℹ️ What is Percentage Calculator?
A percentage calculator solves three common percentage problems: finding a percentage of a number (e.g., 20% of 150), finding what percentage one number is of another (e.g., 30 is what % of 120?), and calculating the percentage change between two values. It is one of the most universally useful math tools in everyday life.
📐 Formula
✏️ Worked Example
- 115% of 200 = (15 / 100) × 200
- 2= 0.15 × 200
- 3= 30
💡 How to Interpret Results
- ▸A percentage change above 0 is an increase; below 0 is a decrease.
- ▸100% of anything = the thing itself. 200% of X = 2 times X. 50% of X = half of X.
- ▸When comparing two percentages, use percentage points (not %) — e.g., going from 10% to 15% is a 5 percentage point increase, but a 50% relative increase.
- ▸To add a percentage to a value: multiply by (1 + P/100). E.g., 20% increase on ₹500 = 500 × 1.20 = ₹600.
- ▸To remove a percentage: multiply by (1 − P/100). E.g., 30% off ₹1000 = 1000 × 0.70 = ₹700.
